WARWICK, RI – (August 11, 2016) – T.F. Green Airport (PVD) has installed a Service Animal Relief Area (SARA). Located post-security in the North Concourse, it is accessible to all passengers traveling with service animals.

The area is fully equipped and includes a wash down stall, complete with special synthetic grass, which covers the flushing system, and a water hose. In order to maintain cleanliness, specialized floor drains were installed beneath the grass. A sink area with cleaning supplies for handlers completes the area.

“Green Airport continually looks to improve our passenger experience,” said Peter Frazier, RIAC Interim President and CEO. “The Service Animal Relief Area, which addresses a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirement, is another example of how Green strives to provide new amenities for all our passengers (as well as their special service companions).”

Many passengers traveling with service animals would pass through security.  Having, no designated area for their animal to relieve themselves, they oftentimes had to take the dog outside and rescreen. This took time and created difficulty for both the owner and the animal. The SARA nullifies these issues, making the experience more convenient.

There are outdoor relief areas located just outside the ground-level terminal exit, towards Garage A.

Green (PVD), located 8 miles south of Providence in Warwick, Rhode Island, is the 3rd largest airport in New England, with a catchment area that attracts passengers from nearby Massachusetts and southeastern Connecticut.
