Rhode Island Airport Corporation to hold Public Information Open House for Cargo Relocation Project

Warwick, RIDecember 20, 2022 – The Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) is holding an Open House on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 to provide an opportunity for Warwick residents, and other interested parties, to learn about the South Cargo Project. The meeting will be held at the Warwick Municipal Annex Community Room at 65 Centerville Road from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2023.

  • The proposed project will be constructed on airport property on the South side of the airport, including portions of Long Term Parking Lot E;
  • The proposed project is expected to increase daily air cargo arrivals by 1-2 flights per day; and
  • Studies are underway to determine potential traffic, visual, and noise impacts and to coordinate mitigating measures.

About the Rhode Island Airport Corporation: The Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) was formed on December 9, 1992 as a semi-autonomous subsidiary of the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation to operate and maintain the state’s airport system. The powers of the corporation are vested in its seven-member board of directors, all of whom are appointed by the governor. RIAC is responsible for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the six state-owned airports; and the supervision of all civil airports, landing areas, navigation facilities, air schools and flying clubs.
