FlyHealthy.Gov Offers Guidance on Safe Holiday Air Travel

WARWICK, RI – Tuesday, November 17, 2020 – Although the Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) expects this year’s holiday travel to be at historic lows given the impact of COVID-19, for those who do plan on holiday air travel, the U.S. Departments of Transportation, Health and Human Services and other federal agencies have established “http://www.flyhealthy.gov” to offer guidance on how to Fly Healthy this holiday season.  The federal guidance provided by the U.S. Departments of Transportation (DOT), Health and Human Services (HHS), Homeland Security (DHS), and State, encourages all travelers to be aware of the directives of local health officials to limit non-essential travel and follow quarantine and/or testing rules and provides an overview of every phase of air travel including:

  • Planning your trip;
  • At the airport;
  • Aboard the aircraft;
  • Arrival at your destination, and;
  • Returning home.

As always, those who may need to travel can be confident that T.F. Green Airport (PVD) and all airlines have made the safety of travelers their top priority with enhanced cleaning and sanitization at airports and on aircraft.  T. F. Green Airport is also helping to promote state and airline requirements for face coverings, which have been proven in numerous studies to effectively prevent the transmission of COVID-19 on aircraft, as well as inform visitors regarding quarantine rules and how to access local COVID-19 testing sites.  More information regarding healthy and safe travels, links to airline COVID-19 policies, and other information including the latest white papers and research regarding the safety of air travel can also be found on RIAC’s COVID information page at www.PVDairport.com.

Despite lowered passenger volume, travelers are still encouraged to allow an appropriate amount of time for check-in and Transportation Security Administration procedures, which include social distancing, low and no-touch check-ins, as well as other new, sanitary security protocols. While awaiting flight departures, Green Airport patrons have additional dining options from Grove Bay Concessions, which has re-opened the Wolfgang Puck Express, and expects to open another restaurant, Providence Provisions, featuring new takes on some of Rhode Island’s favorite culinary fares in early December. https://grovebayconcessions.com/
