Warwick, RI, June 24, 2019: The Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) will hold two workshops this week to engage the public in planning for the future of T.F. Green Airport.

Two public information workshops will be held on:

·      Tuesday, June 25th, 4-8 pm at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 801 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick.‎

·      Wednesday, June 26th, 4-8 pm at the Wyndham Providence Hotel, 1850 Post Road, Warwick.

At 60% of the way through the planning process, RIAC has communicated with and received initial input from a wide range of stakeholders across Rhode Island.  The plan is now at a point where preliminary concepts are developed and RIAC wants to share with and hear from customers and the community at large.   The workshops will consist of six dedicated workstations that will cover planning forecasts and preliminary development concepts for airside, terminal, landside and cargo/general aviation areas.

The Master Plan is focused on defining feasible and flexible development plans to accommodate forecasted demand over a 20-year period.  “This plan will take a measured approach to capital investment so we can develop our infrastructure incrementally as Passenger Activity Levels (PALs) dictate,” said Iftikhar Ahmad president and CEO of RIAC. “Furthermore, the FAA ties federal funding to the availability and timeliness of such plans by airports, which is critical for this major Rhode Island transportation asset.”

In early April, RIAC engaged key stakeholders and formed a Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) comprised of representatives from local, state and federal governmental agencies, airlines, concessions, and private business. Along with the expertise and experience of our Master Plan team, C&S Companies, and the initial input from the April TAC workshop, RIAC is prepared to foster discussions between project facilitators and attendees.

Complimented by preliminary development concepts like the ones shown here for a potential terminal building gate expansion and airport roadway improvements, facilitators will inform attendees on the possibilities if forecasted growth comes to fruition. “The master plan process allows the team to hear from a wide range of stakeholders. We have developed preliminary concepts based upon the forecasted needs, which do not include any runway extensions or realignments, but rather focuses on the existing airport property and facilities. We intend to do a lot of listening and gathering input from the public on these initial concepts.” said Iftikhar Ahmad.

A dedicated webpage for the Master Plan process allows for additional commentary to be received and answered, and can be accessed at
