RI Assn of Fire Chiefs Honor Flight Pays Tribute to WWII Veterans

On Saturday, March 23, 2013, 42 veterans of World War II will gather at TF Green Airport and board a Southwest Airlines flight to our nation’s capitol.  They will visit the sites of the Arlington National Cemetery, World War II Memorial, the Korean War Memorial and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.  These veterans are 41 men and 1 woman ranging in age from 85 to 93. 

Saturday marks the second Honor Flight organized by the RI Fire Chief’s.  The Rhode Island Association of Fire Chiefs Foundation was founded as a non-profit charitable organization in 2011 and in 2012 the Rhode Island Chiefs organized the 118th Hub for the national Honor Flight organization.  Honor Flights pay tribute to America’s veterans with a “tour of honor” for those who sacrificed so much for this country.       

WHO:             42 Veterans of World War II, escorted by an honor guard of Rhode Island Air National Guard, Warwick Firefighters and Warwick Police Officers.  

WHAT:            Veterans will gather at 5:30am at the Warwick Fire Station located at 1651 Post Road and travel down Post Rd. to TF Green Airport at 6:00am with a motorcade escort of police and fire vehicles.  The Honor flight will depart at 8:05am for Washington, DC.  The flight will return to TF Green Airport at 8:55pm on Saturday evening.

WHEN:           Saturday, March 23, 2013, 5:30am, 6:00am and 8:55pm
