For Immediate Release:         Contact: John J. Goodman; [email protected] 401-602-1861

WARWICK, RI – January 22, 2020 – The Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) today issued a statement on efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (also known as “2019 novel coronavirus.”)

Currently the Centers for Disease Control and U.S. Customs and Border Protection are conducting health screenings for passengers on flights arriving from China at select U.S. international airports with direct flights from China including airports in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Atlanta and Chicago.
The Rhode Island Airport Corporation is working closely with our partners at the Center for Disease Control and the Rhode Island Department of Health should there be any need to activate our existing protocols regarding individuals who may have been exposed to a communicable disease.

The CDC currently considers the risk level to the American public to be very low, however the Rhode Island Airport Corporation is monitoring this health situation closely and will continue to work with our state and federal partners to ensure passenger health and safety.
