The two sides of this debate are being handled by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the airlines who have jurisdiction in this matter. The FAA is working to ensure that radio signals from newly activated wireless telecommunications systems can coexist safely with flight operations in the United States.

The Rhode Island Airport Corporation continues to monitor concerns regarding 5G C-Band network implementation related to Low-Visibility Operations and restrictions on instrument approach procedures which could impact flight operations at airports throughout the nation.

Travelers should inquire with individual airlines regarding any potential flight disruptions beginning on January 19, 2022. More information regarding this matter is available at https://www.faa.gov/5g
