Security Checkpoint (TSA)
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has established screening hours from approximately 90 minutes before the first scheduled departure of the day until the last scheduled domestic departure from Rhode Island T. F. Green International Airport (PVD). The TSA may alter these hours based on airline schedule or flight departure delays.
The airport and TSA have taken significant steps to minimize the amount of time you spend waiting to go through the passenger-screening checkpoint. Typical wait time is no more than a few minutes. However, during peak travel hours or days—typically 5:00 – 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.—lines may be longer than normal. Summer months typically require travelers to budget extra time. Your checkpoint wait time may also depend on the number of carry-on bags and types of packed items. Tables and benches are readily available for passenger convenience while revesting.
Remember to take all items out of your pockets and place them inside your carry-on. Divest medicines and baby foods separately. All other liquids, gels and aerosols under 3.4 oz. must follow the established TSA rules.

Real ID
Beginning May 7, 2025, a REAL ID or passport will be the required identification to board an airplane in the United States. A REAL ID is an updated version of a state’s driver’s license, designed to meet the security standards of the federal 2005 Real ID Act.
Threat Level
All passengers are advised to be aware of the current Department of Homeland Threat Advisory Level. Increases in this level may dictate additional security measures to be taken by the airport and your air carrier and you should allow extra time for these measures to be carried out.
The National Terrorism Advisory System provides Americans with alert information on homeland security threats. It is distributed by the Department of Homeland Security. More information is available at dhs.gov/national-terrorism-advisory-system.
